Marine - Technical Support Engineer
Reports to:

JOB SUMMARY
Manage the provision of Marine and Technical Support to the
Company’s operations
ensuring marine operations are conducted in a safe and efficient
manner, complying with
Company policy and procedures and Coastal State, Flag State and
Classification Society
Requirements. Assist rig move operations as required including
unit suitability to
operate at a location. Establish rig move procedures including attendance during the rig
moves, if required. Arranges for/coordinates provision of Third
Party services in support
of rig moves or transports. Assess the suitability of a unit to
operate at a particular
location, including site assessment and positioning the rig
within tight tolerances at the
limit of the unit’s operational envelope. Provide engineering
analysis of the companies
moored units including specific mooring analysis as required.
Assist Division Managers
as required for operational support.
QUALIFICATIONS
1.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with mechanical/marine/naval
architecture engineering preferred.
2.
3-5 years experience in the petroleum industry to include some
background in piping systems for mechanical systems.

Familiarity with actual rig operations.
4.
Knowledgeable in offshore drilling unit design and construction
techniques.
5.
Knowledge of machine shop techniques and procedures, metallurgy
and welding.
6.
Familiarity with appropriate software.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
·
Manage the provision of Marine and Technical Support to the
Company’s operations ensuring marine operations are conducted in
a safe and efficient manner, complying with Company policy and
procedures and Coastal State, Flag State and Classification
Society Requirements.

Assist rig move operations as required including unit
suitability to operate at a location.
·
Establish rig move procedures including attendance during the
rig moves, if required.

Arrange for/coordinate provision of Third Party services in

Provide engineering analysis of the companies moored units

Assist Division Managers as required for operational support.

Assist project rig construction, re-fitting, and reactivation.
·
Perform design and problem analysis work on machinery and
systems, as required.
·
Perform mooring analysis as required.
·
Evaluate and inspect overhauled equipment (mechanical and
electrical systems).
·
Perform new equipment evaluation, construction and installation.
·
Upgrade, modify and repair existing equipment.
·
Review CAD drawings for accuracy prior to fabrication and
construction.
·
Perform in capacity of Project Manager, if required.
·
Develop, control and supervise the writing of project AFEs.
·
Serve on various IADC committees and other professional society
committees.
·
Supervise, plan and prioritize the activities of project and
outside service personnel.
·
Develop Company rig policies, operating procedures and update
rig operations manuals.
·
Physical dexterity sufficient to perform all necessary shipyard
interface and interaction required
within the scope of job responsibility.
·
Perform other duties as assigned by senior management.
